My brother James visited Auschwitz when he was in the Army.

After he crawled from under the fence, he ran across the dead bodies towards the forest. The author tells his powerful and unbelievable account of how aehes survived this death camp at only 15 years of ageand after he survived a planned escape, how he managed to continue to stay alive.

The book by Rashke was adapted into the award-winning television film, Escape from Sobibor. I was rooting for him all the way as he tried escape after escape and was always recaptured until he ended up in the death camp of Sobibor. Having the personal contact with him in mind when I read the book crom it that much better.

He kept a diary as a teenager and was able to salvage some of it after the Holocaust. Blatt had found his destiny.
